What challenges we faced:
The customer was using a major competitor’s consumer-grade computers and servers for their emergency dispatch system. These products were unable to handle the high demand of 24/7 operation. The consumer-grade computers for individual dispatchers and servers for emergency response centers were being discontinued frequently by changing key mechanical components.
Our Solution:
While doing assembly of its computers with an expertly workmanship and safe manner in San Diego, Impact customized its PCs and servers to withstand 24/7 operation, increased their reliability with industrial-grade components including German-made motherboards from Kontron. The solutions for both dispatcher's PC and emergency center servers are supported by Impact without any changes to the design for many years based on a long Mass Production Lifecycle roadmap for all parts involved.
Technologies Used:
Industrial-grade RAM & SSDs, robust chassis, along with Kontron's German-made industrial motherboards D3713-V with MTBF of 52 years at 45C @24/7 and K3841-Q rated for Mean Time Between Failure of 37 years, which both work even at -40C. Impact completes assembly by installation of a Windows operating system, essential software drivers, and system testing.
